Green Finance Initiative

Website + Design system

The Green Finance Initiative is a UK financial scheme aimed at promoting investment in low carbon options.

The Green Finance Initiative is a City of London backed scheme aimed at encouraging investment in low carbon energy within the UK.

The project needed to be delivered quickly, which led to the approach of prototyping and designing the website in the browser, working with a developer for CMS integration.

Research

To understand the broader aims and objectives for the project, we organised a morning long workshop at the client’s City of London offices.

Using various methodologies I worked with the client to understand their needs for the platform, identify their target audience(s), and explore content and key functionality.

Functional prototypes

Layouts and page templates were prototyped in the browser. Content hierarchy and functionality was checked with the client at various design review stages.

It was crucial to address the functional requirements early on. I wanted to understand how users would move through the site, browsing and searching for key information.

Branding & style guide

I worked closely with the client to deliver a style guide that could be used both online and offline, on their website and corporate communications.

The style guide provided several typefaces, a colour palette and graphic elements to be used on the new website, as well as guidance guidance for content within the CMS.

UI & Visual Design

After the brand identity had been created and a prototype used to refine the strategy and vision of the user experience, I began to work on the user interface of the site.

I kept the UI simple and clean assimilating all the elements of the new brand identity into the design such as colour, typography and graphic elements.

Business impact

CSAT increase

After the release of the newly designed app, we observed an increase in the overall customer satisfaction rating of the app at around 70%

Outcomes & thoughts

Lightful launched their new website in 2017, leading to an increase in new user sign-ups and an overall increase in customer retention.

This was an interesting project to work on and I loved working with the Lighful team. I learned a lot about working with stakeholders, developing ideas and testing prototypes.
